LITHUANIAN LABOUR FEDERATION

 

It is a Christian trade union that was created in the Congress of Lithuanian Christian workers representatives’ on 27-28 of September, 1919 in Kaunas.

The representatives of LDF participated in meetings of Lithuanian Parliament. They tried to solve cultural, political and occupational questions of workers. LDF was active until 1940. After Lithuania got its independence in 1991, LDF was recreated. At the moment LDF covers about 20 000 members. Since 1996 LDF is a member of World Confederation of Labor (WCL) and since 2002 it belongs to European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC).

 

Objectives of Lithuanian Labour Federation:

1.To consolidate the members of LDF on national level; to protect professional, labour, economical and social  rights and interests of members of LDF;

2.To represent members of LDF in relations with employers, their organizations, state institutions, international organizations;

3.To influence social politics in order to reach better economical, social and labour conditions for employees;

4.To strengthen social partnership;

5.To strengthen solidarity between trade unions in Lithuania and abroad;

6.To encourage the creation of new organizations of LDF and to recruit new members to LDF;

7.To coordinate activities of LDF subdivisions;

8.To pursue education and training of LDF members;

9.To participate in activities of workers representative institutions in Lithuania, Europe and all over the world.
